Our Value
Melina World´s story
Melina World started with the desire to offer a small piece of Greece. Genuine Greek quality craftsmanship, to all who came to enjoy life, at the foot of the Acropolis. A small memory from the cradle of civilization.
It quickly became a success. Today Melina World designs are available all over Greece. The capital Athens has many jewellery shops representing the Melina designs as well as many Greek islands like Santorini, Rhodes, Corfu, Kos, Crete, Mykonos, Mytilini, Naxos and many other beautiful islands big as small…
The mission of Melina World is to bring our customers, a little piece of Greece home. We bring the history and culture of the past into the present, with handmade jewellery for both men and women. The idea of recreating old works of art as well as historical motifs and symbols, so that they can be worn as jewellery, is an idea Melina World has worked with from the beginning.
However, the idea of designing small designs that are put together piece by piece for a necklace or bracelet is not ours. It´s a more than 5000-year-old Greek tradition.
Founded on the belief that history through jewellery designs should be accessible to everyone, Melina World specialises in silver & gold pieces to compliment your jewellery collection.
Quality from Europe
Crafts in precious metals and glass have existed as long as we have known about these materials.
Melina World has two workshops, one in Greece and one in Denmark. Here, the silversmiths design and manufacture Melina´s jewellery, from the neat drawing to the final result. It has been a decision from the very beginning that Melina World will retain all production at all levels, from purchasing materials to design, production and sales, within a European framework.
Our glass is quality glass, which we buy in long bars from the island of Murano in Venice, Italy. We buy our silver in Greece and we constantly test the quality. Our finished designs are a minimum of 925 Sterling Silver, which means that a minimum of 92.5% is pure silver, the last part being a blended product, primarily copper. We only work in Swiss gold, which is internationally recognized. Our materials are from Europe. We handcraft all our jewellery in Greece and Denmark.
We design our exhibition furniture as well as display cabinets so that they are adapted to our stores and the trade shows, where we are represented. We have a carpenter who is affiliated with Melina World’s workshops. All PR and packaging for the jewellery are manufactured in Denmark under environmentally friendly conditions.

Caring for your Melina World Jewellery
Your jewellery pieces deserve to be looked after with love and attention.
All jewellery pieces, require proper care and cleaning to maintain the shine and extend lifespan. Here’s a guide to help you keep your Melina jewellery pieces as best possible.
Understanding Your Jewellery
Before cleaning, it's essential to understand the material of your jewellery. Precious metals like gold, silver, platinum, and gemstones each have different properties and require different care. Soft stones like pearls or opals need gentle care, while diamonds, sapphires, and rubies, being hard gemstones, can endure more rigorous cleaning. Melina World uses silver, gold, Murano glass, pearls and semi precious stones
Basic Cleaning
For most jewellery, a simple mixture of dish soap and warm water is an excellent place to start. Soak the jewellery in the mixture for 20 minutes, then gently brush with a soft toothbrush. Rinse under warm running water and pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. Deep Cleaning Silver Silver tends to tarnish over time. To remove this, create a paste with baking soda and water. Apply with a soft cloth, a sponge or simply use your fingertips, working it into the crevices. Rinse thoroughly and dry well. Cleaning Gold Soak gold jewellery in a slightly stronger solution of dish soap and warm water for about 20 minutes. Gently scrub with a soft toothbrush, rinse, and dry with a soft cloth.
Regular Care for Your Jewellery
Regular care goes beyond cleaning. It's important to: Remove jewellery during tasks that might cause physical damage or expose it to chemicals. Don't let your jewellery come into contact with cosmetics, hairspray, or perfume, as these can cause damage. Store your jewellery in separate pouches to avoid scratches.
Conclusion
Proper care and cleaning can keep your jewellery shining forever. If any questions at all about the maintenance of your Melina designs, never hesitate to contact us.
Materials
Melina World materials
At Melina World we use Sterling Silver 925, Murano Glass, Freshwater peals, Enamel, Gold 18k and Gold Vermeil.
Solid gold at Melina World is 18K. Highest quality Swiss gold.
Vermeil is Solid Sterling Silver that has been micron plated with 18ct. gold. Micron plating has undergone a process of electrolysis, ensuring it is the most durable form of gold plating. To be considered vermeil, the gold must be at least 2.5 micrometres thick.
HOW TO TELL IF STERLING SILVER IS REAL
Look for the 925 marking. Genuine sterling silver jewellery will be marked with these three numbers or STERLING or STER.
Hold a magnet to the silver. If the magnet sticks, your jewellery is not real sterling silver.
Smell the sterling silver. If it smells strongly metallic, then your jewellery is not real sterling silver.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STERLING SILVER AND SILVER?
Sterling silver is an alloy made mostly of silver and a small percentage of copper and zinc to strengthen it. It can last a lifetime and be passed on for many generations if properly cared for. Silver is soft and not as durable as sterling silver. It only contains .01% of trace elements. Silver is hypoallergenic, but sterling silver is not because it’s combined with zinc. Sterling silver is more easily tarnished than fine silver because of the other metals it contains. While 925 sterling silver is less “pure” than silver, it does not mean it’s not good. Sterling silver is a high-quality material that’s both durable and beautiful to wear
Melina World only uses ethically sourced, genuine freshwater pearls. Being natural, no two pearls are the same and only the best are chosen when crafting our pieces. We never use synthetic pearls at Melina World you will find the best metals and glass and pearls available on the market. Always..!
